How to build a Checkered Game Board
In this episode of DIY Wood Works, host David Marks builds a game board using five distinct hardwoods. This project is an exercise in advanced woodworking as wengae and quilted maple -- as well as three other exotic hardwoods -- are joined to create an exquisite game-board. Veneers are created by cutting stock into 3/32-inch-thick laminates that are then glued onto 2-inch-wide substrates.
