How to build a Sculpted Elliptical Mirror
To create this art-nouveau inspired elliptical mirror, we begin with blocks of Bubinga that are joined into a rough frame with mortise and loose tenons. The frame is glued, then sculpted with a die-grinder. Several rotary attachments and hand-tools are used in the shaping process that results in an asymmetrical design that is highlighted by sinuous lines. A double rabbet, cut into the back of the frame, holds the glass mirror and back panel
